The Moffatt Family

Family's Lodge

Relative's Lodge

Friend's Lodge

Welcome to the Moffatt Family website. Our ancestors on the Moffatt (originally spelt Moffat) side came to New Zealand from Movea, Cookstown, Ireland in about 1880. There are currently four generations of our immediate family living in New Zealand. We are in Whangarei, Auckland, near Christchurch in Canterbury and in New Plymouth.

We set up this website primarily as a means of distributing items such as family photographs amongst our family and friends.

If you are one of our relatives or friends and would like access to one of the "Lodges" where the information resides, please contact us.

If you think you may be related and would like to contact us, please feel free to do so. We would be interested in learning more about our family history. Some of our ancestors from whom the current members of the family are descended are:

  • Moffat, John. Born Movea, Cookstown, Ireland, 24 June 1859 and his wife,
    • Jones, Mary Ann. Born Muchcourne, Herefordshire, England, 18 April 1859.
  • Black, James. Born Kirkholme, Wigtownshire, Scotland, 1827 and his wife,
    • Hyde, Margaret. Born County Armagh, Ireland, 1829.
  • Dooley, John. Born Robertstown, Kildare, Ireland, 17 July 1833 and his wife,
    • Burns, Mary Ann. Born Ireland, 27 July 1839.
  • Lidgard (Lidget), Joseph. Born Old Clee, Lincolnshire, England, 1747.
